Come Race around the Islands of Halifax Harbour
ARMDALE YACHT CLUB invites all Sail Nova Scotia members to participate in this one-of-a-kind race around the islands of Halifax Harbour – the only Bermuda Start on our racing calendar. This event is AYC’s most popular race and is an annual hit with both racers and cruisers, experienced and novice sailors alike.
Ready to make the Harbour Island Classic great again?
The Harbour Island Classic has been going on since 1952. It is the ultimate test of your Halifax Harbour navigation skills as you round both McNab’s and George’s Islands. It also tests your stamina and sailing prowess as you battle through the North West Arm and all of it’s glory, wind shifts, tight quarters, and many obstacles. The Bermuda start only adds to the excitement of this amazing race.
As many of the old timers will account, historically this race has drawn up to 100 boats with an after party to rival that of the Croatian Yacht Week.
This past year the sailing community lost a true staple within the Nova Scotia sailing scene. Karl Baker was a huge supporter of regattas both large and small. Karl was an active participant in this particular event, and was a long time volunteer for many Marblehead Ocean Races. The apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree with his children who have taken on the responsibility of promoting his favourite race of all time. Please join us in supporting this race in his memory.
Stay tuned for race details, prizes, and sponsors. Please contact us if you wish to volunteer or help in any way.
